The fabulous sounding 1957 Gibson J-50 is particularly powerful and responsive as late 50's Gibson flattops go. It's entirely original, and super clean, only showing the minor signs of play wear and mild lacquer checking one would expect to see on a 65-year old guitar. We've just reglued one brace (it's a minor miracle only one was loose after all this time) and set it up anew -- it's now playing beautifully and looking great. Let's circle back to the sound for a second, since that's why we're all here and it bears repeating in this case. This is a great-sounding J-50, with a very full voice compared to the typically midrangey examples of this model. Thick, robust bass, dry mids, and a fat treble register make this a great strumming guitar, yes, but fantastic flatpicking guitar as well. Priced with a period hardshell case, this is an excellent choice for anyone interested in their first vintage flattop guitar.
