Remember that clean '97 Gibson Custom Shop Historic R0 we had a little while back? Well this '98 R8 has just come in to possibly top that one in every category.

Completed in early '98, this Custom Shop Art & Historic 1958 Les Paul Reissue is a total stunner. Just about as well-maintained and clean an example you'll see from this period, there's nothing we can truly compare this to in a modern Les Paul.

This Maple definitively puts the "flame" in "flametop", with tight chevron-like grain pattern accented by a beautiful Iced Tea Sunburst finish. The one-piece Mahogany body is no slouch either, and even the Rosewood fingerboard has some wonderful coloration and grain. But the neck! The neck is a glorious thing, folks. With a profile that leans more into the '59 camp, it feels superb in hand. The slightly leaner taper with the softer shoulders of the profile allow for effortless playability all over the neck.

Just over 9lbs, it feels very nicely balanced - well within the optimal LP weight range we'd say. The original Classic '57 humbuckers sound great as well, with a nice combination of clarity and heft.

All in all, a truly exceptional Les Paul in near collector-grade condition. Includes OHSC, original serial-matching warranty card, and hang tag.
