This Collings D1A Varnish was custom ordered through our shop in 2006; and we remember it fondly as one of the best sounding Collings guitars we've ever had! At the time of the order, a darker, 1930's Martin-style sunburst was requested (Collings was not then offering a 'Dark Sunburst' like they do now on their Traditional line). Under the ambery varnish finish, this particular 'burst looks simply sublime; and the tone of this guitar leaves nothing on the table. It's incredibly loud and powerful, with the open, throaty growl that has made a D1A Varnish the envy of flatpickers worldwide.
