This player-grade 1961 Martin D-28 sports beautiful Brazilian Rosewood back & sides and a surprisingly boomy low end for a 60's guitar. Bluegrass guitarists in search of a first vintage D-28 would be well-served by this one: it's got the thick low end required to anchor a rhythm section, and the bright, snappy trebles ensure clarity and cut on a microphone when it's time to solo over a fiddle tune. It's set up with low action at the moment; and said bluegrass players may indeed want a taller saddle installed if playing with a heavy right-hand attack is what's called for. Fingerstyle players and those who employ a light touch would likely enjoy the playability as it is.

Condition: as mentioned, this is a guitar for a player (and it's probably not a guitar for someone searching for collectibility first). The neck has been reset at least once; and there's evidence of a small, hairline crack in the neck heel from an older reset (the crack is repaired and stable). The original bridge and tuners have been replaced. The finish has been oversprayed. And the fingerboard was planed for an older refret resulting in a somewhat thin feel in the first position. A Barcus Berry soundboard transducer has been added. Priced with hardshell case; expedited shipping required at online checkout. We invite any interested parties to call us for an in-hand description!
