Often considered one of the better values in vintage electric guitars, the Guild Starfire IV represents the Hoboken NJ builder's answer to the Gibson ES-335. Featuring a semi-hollow mahogany laminate body, a pair of original Guild mini humbuckers, and their classic "G harp" tailpiece, you're rewarded with a wonderfully responsive instrument that straddles the line between punchy and articulate.

Guild mini-humbuckers are typically lower in output, therefore having a rounder, softer low end response and nice chimey top end. Blues and jazz players love these pickups for this reason, but they're not lost on R&B and Rock guitarists. Paired up with a cranked Vox AC-30 or Marshall-style amp, these guitars have great top end and upper midrange crackle that cuts through a mix with ease.

This guitar shows plenty of honest play wear throughout, and has a new lease on life thanks to a well done refret and nut replacement. The original stamped tuners were replaced early on by a set of Grover Rotomatics. An early Melita bridge (used often by Guild during this time period) accompanies the original Harp tailpiece, and all of the electronics are original to the guitar.

While vintage Guilds don't command the high grade collectability of Fenders and Gibsons of the same period, their value for discerning players looking to capture a similar sound and vibe is tremendous.
