Don Macrostie voiced this one after the "Cox" mandolin, his Loar-signed F5 dated April 25, 1923. It sounds excellent right out of the gate, with a full low end, really nice, clear mids and the kind of chimey highs where every note has a blossoming ping of a reverb trail. Suffice to say: the tone is very mature for a relatively new instrument. As great as it is now, we can't help but wonder just how incredible this mandolin will sound at 103.

Big thanks to Jake Joliff for the wonderful, and apropos, demo!
