As post-Banner LG2 variants go, this guitar is an exceptional one. The neck carve is on the fatter side; and while it's nowhere near the baseball bats seen on LG2s six or seven years older, we appreciate its fullness as it relates to playability and tone. This LG2 is very open-sounding, with a surprising amount of rumble in the low midrange for a late-40's guitar. The high end is round and singing, making this an excellent fingerpicking guitar -- though to be honest, this guitar's voice is so warm and sweet there's little you can't ask of it. This one gets our highest marks!
Condition: this guitar presents beautifully, with clean, mostly original parts, and a wonderfully unfaded sunburst which retains its amber-red hues. The original lacquer finish displays the expected checking, and exhibits the expected dings and scratches associated with regular use. Small areas of the finish on the bass side of the fingerboard have chipped away (see photos); and the back's center seam shows absorption of the finish consistent with age. A new saddle, new bridge pins, and new tuner buttons have been installed. Action measures a spot-on 3/32" (bass side) and 2/32" (treble side) under tension of light-gauge strings; and the saddle measures just a hair over 3/32" at its center. Priced with non-original hard case. Interested parties are welcome to contact us for an in-hand description! Shipping calculated at checkout.
