It's hard to beat the vibe and honest wear of this 1966 Fender Precision Bass. Recently acquired from a local player who has owned it since 1970, this P Bass exemplifies everything great about a '60s Fender.
Looking through that uniquely played-in wear, it's got that distinctive mid-'60s "bullseye" 3-tone sunburst finish and tortoiseshell pickguard that is instantly identifiable with this model. This bass has been lovingly played for decades, as evidenced by the body wear both on the bass-side pickguard edge and the rear 'belt buckle' area. There's no wonder it's seen a lot of play time - it's super light at just over 8lbs and rings like a bell!
The original split pickup is strong and punchy, despite measuring at a slightly lower output than other P bass pickups we've seen from this era. The original electronics work great as well.
As you might imagine, neck feel is superb on this P bass. Perfectly worn in - in all the right places - while remaining wonderfully intact. The frets are in great shape and playability is great. Our in-house tech happens to be a bassist, so the setup is very well dialed in.
Condition: Very Good. As mentioned and noted in the description, this bass has spent the better part of 50 years as an actively gigged instrument. There's noted wear along with some dings and scratches throughout, but no breaks or repairs. The original pickguard is intact, the original tuners function properly, and the electronics are operating to spec. The previous owner had an aftermarket bridge installed (to this day we're not sure why!), but left us with a period-correct bridge that we've since put back on the bass.
Priced with the original Fender hardshell case that is road-worn but in good overall condition.
