Roger Sadowsky needs no introduction. He's a legend in the guitar making community and many phenomenal builders have spent time working at his shop in NYC. His artist user list reads like a who's-who of greats - Will Lee, Walter Becker, Dean Parks, Lee Ritenour, through to Keith Richards and Andy Summers. The list goes on and on and speaks volumes about what Roger's instruments are about - pro-grade gear, period.

This SS-15 sports, you guessed it, a 15" lower bout, a 1 3/4" body depth, and weighs in at 5lbs even, making it ultra-comfortable to play. The neck carve feels like a chunky C and would be right at home a great ES-335, though the SS-15 sports a 1 3/4" nut width. The setup is perfect with nice low action (there's plenty of room to adjust higher for you Wes types who like to dig in).

Coupled with the smaller body dimensions, the short scale length adds to the comfortable playing experience in a really great way. The neck sits a little closer to your body, giving the impression that it's directly in front of you negating the need to reach for lower, and even upper, parts of the fretboard. The goal with this design seems to have been to present you, the player, with as little resistance as possible - the guitar is there, ready to take whatever you want to through at it. Lead runs, chord solos,'s an agile partner. Not all guitars do this, and it's a cool experience to be sure.

Whether played acoustically or plugged in, this SS-15 is a delight and ultimately fun and inspiring to play (if you're used to an archtop that fights you, this ain't it!). We sat down and plugged into a Carr Skylark and the next thing we know, 20 minutes have passed - always a good sign, no? Killer open, warm, Jim Hall-like tones pour out of this instrument (Jim's tone always has an amplified-coupled-with-an-acoustic quality to it. Check him out if you haven't...).

Condition: Excellent/Near Mint. Very light signs of prior ownership, namely, the extremely light fret wear on the first few frets (barely there, but in the interest of full disclosure). No dings, scratches, or repairs.

If you're strictly a jazz player or not, there's an awful lot to love about this gently used 2011 SS-15. We're huge jazz fans at TME though none of us are what you'd consider traditional jazz players. We all found a ton of things to love about this guitar and feel confident you will as well. An incredible instrument that had us playing outside of our comfort zone in a very good way. Priced with case.
