Description

Fantastic sounding 1948 Martin D-18 just into the shop! This is an all-original guitar (there were once Waverly tuners on it, but the originals have been re-installed) in excellent well-played condition. There are two repaired top cracks (please see photos) and a repaired pickguard crack to go with a assortment of dings and some significant buckle rash on the back. Original bridge and bridge plate. Action sitting at 3.5/32" on the bass side and 2.5/32" on the treble side (that's what we would call flatpicker action). This guitar rewards an aggressive, bluegrass style attack; and the tapered top bracing yields an exceptionally punchy sound when playing melodies on the treble strings. Outstanding volume, warmth and crispness of tone, with the ringing golden midrange you'd want from a textbook vintage D-18. Priced with non-original hard case.
