Martin 000-18 (1955)

Description

This lovely-sounding 1955 Martin 000-18 has just come into the shop on trade! It straddles the line between player/collector grade nicely, sporting enough playwear to let you know it hasn't been hanging around in a case yet retaining its original parts in clean condition. No major modifications have been made (except for the addition of a strap button); and although there are a fair number of dings, scrapes and scratches, it's crack-free. It conforms to the typical model specs of the day, featuring Honduran Mahogany back & sides, Spruce top, Brazilian Rosewood bridge, fretboard and pegged veneer, 1 11/16" nut and 24.9" scale. The tone is warm and open, with that great woody midrange sparkle characteristic of 1950's Martin flattops. While a 50's guitar won't knock you over with low-end boom the way a pre-war one can, they can be fabulous entries into the vintage market for players seeking great tone at an attainable price. This 000-18 is no exception to the rule. Priced with non-original hard case.
