"Every day we try to make a better guitar, every day. You're trying to reach for more, trying to do better, not trying to do the same. A lot of companies are trying to do the same, and that's okay - that's their deal. We're trying to stretch that. Our goal is a little more." - Bill Collings

The I-30LC is Collings' take on Gibson's ES-330 - one of our favorite guitars ever. Why do we love this model so much? They're light as air, totally hollow, equipped with P90s...but really, they're just so musical and inspiring to play. Percussive, fat/warm tones, biting/assertive tones...they're way more versatile than you might think. If you're primarily an acoustic player but are feeling the lure of an electric guitar, this is an excellent place to start. They sound awesome unplugged as well as plugged in...we could go on...let's do, shall we?

To have a company like Collings turn their attention to a fully hollow, 330-inspired model is incredibly exciting. They've nailed everything that makes the vintage ES-330s so great - light as air, perfectly balanced, killer acoustic tones and plugged in tones as perviously mentioned. You can pull Grant Green tones, Les Paul snarl and bite, a bit of Fender twang if you play it back by the bridge...You can also access everything in-between those tones with ease.

Like all Collings guitars, the build, fit-finish, setup, playability, and tones are perfect, quite literally - zero concerns here.

So, the 60s neck carve - we've gotten a lot of questions about it. To our hands, this is a subtle change from the standard late 50s-meets-early-60s carve that Collings typically uses. It's ever so slightly thinner with a tad less shoulder overall. What this carve is not, is a 60s carve in the sense of a mid/late 60s Gibson. Those necks are quite small and can be found on new guitars like the Larry Carlton signature ES-335. The Collings version of a 60s carve is not this.

If you've been in the market for a great re-issue 330, skip to the front of the line and check out the I-30LC. Trust us, they're incredible. Priced with hardshell case.
