Phoenix Jazz Model

Phoenix has come to be known for lightweight, very responsive mandolins; the Jazz epitomizes both, and is intended expressly for use with Thomastik Heavy flatwound strings. "Heavy" is misleading here. All Thomastiks are lower in tension than most standard strings, and, like a jazz guitar flatwound string, are rounder-sounding, mellower and smoother as well. While you can string up the Jazz with round wound strings, it's sound and feel will change dramatically. For most people, the Phoenix Jazz-Thomastik synergy is undeniable.

This Jazz Model is at once powerful and sweet. Great bass, clean midrange and exceedingly open trebles. Wonderful mando for almost any style of music: warm and woody for Celtic, world, fiddle tunes, classical, and of course jazz!

Figured Macassar Ebony headstock with matching Macassar finger rest and taipliece. Graphite-epoxy truss bar, hybrid varnish finish, 1 3/16" nut width, radiused ebony fingerboard, Kent Armstrong specially-designed floating magnetic pickup, in stereo combination with an internally-mounted acoustic soundboard pickup. Priced with Hiscox hard case.
