Phoenix Historic Ultra Novax Multiscale (1994)

Out of Stock

Very rare, very beautiful Phoenix Ultra just into the shop for consignment! This is #155P ("Prototype") -- one of only three Phoenix mandolins built with the Novax multiscale fingerboard. The standard scale length of 13 7/8" is slightly shorter on the treble side and slightly longer on the bass side, which helps fatten the high end and adds punch and articulation to the lower register. 1 3/16" nut width. Neck shape is a pronounced V, with a slightly meatier profile than a standard Ultra. Douglas Fir top, fiddleback Maple back and sides, Schaller tuners and pearl nut. Fantastic sound and playability. Overall condition is excellent, with only slight cosmetic signs of handling. Priced with its original hard case -- which features a very cool, burgundy gator tolex. No trades, please.
