This incredible 2013 Thorn DeLuxe just arrived on consignment!
We've had a few Ron Thorn creations pass through the shop in the last year or two and all have been jaw-dropping guitars. Ron has built his reputation on flawless build quality and this gorgeous DeLuxe does not stray from that formula.
As the name implies, everything about this semi-hollow DeLuxe is well...just that. Immaculate build quality, fretwork, setup...it's all air-tight. The details are plentiful and really add an elegant vibe to the guitar - purfling is very tastefully used around the natural/maple "binding", pickguard, and fretboard. The inlays, something Ron is also known for, are really beautiful and again up the elegant vibe.
Though there are plenty of beautiful things to look at on this DeLuxe, don't be fooled into thinking it sounds polite - far from it. This is a balanced, bold, big sounding guitar. Think ES-335 crossed with, say, the openness and snap of a Tele. If you typically live on the neck position, you'll love the fact that the DeLuxe remains open, articulate, and clear whether clean or overdriven. The bridge pickup brings in the expected snarl and midrange punch and rocks as hard as any LP style guitar we've played.
The overall feel is quite slinky with the perfect amount of resistance - you can dig in without feeling like you'll overpower the guitar, or lay back and play with a light touch. It'll go where you ask it easily. The neck feels quite a bit like a 58 reissue Les Paul, but with a touch less shoulder. Fans of larger necks will love it (but don't let that scare you off - it's a very comfortable, well shaped neck).
Condition: Excellent save for some very, very light worming on the back and one or two light surface scratches. No fret wear and the electronics work perfectly.
What can we say, we're once again knocked out by Ron Thorn's masterful work. Not much not to love here, folks! Priced with original hardshell case and case candy.
On consignment, no trades please.
