"The DGT is a product a lot of miles down the road: a lot of gigs, a lot of records. It's like picking up a vintage guitar. It sounds like a vintage guitar, and out of the box it's ready to go. There's a whole lot of thought gone into this. The DGT is pretty perfect to me." - David Grissom
Fans of PRS Guitars will likely know the name David Grissom. David's longtime gig has been with John Mellencamp, but he's also a top sideman who's worked with the Allman Brothers, Bob Dylan, Chris Isaak, and the Dixie Chicks. Most notably, David has played PRS guitars for most of his career.
The DGT model is the result of over 20 years of collaboration with Paul Reed Smith and the results are stellar. This is easily our favorite PRS model and this particular guitar is a shining example of what makes PRS guitars great - flawless build quality, effortless playability, killer tones, and one of our favorite bridges of all time.
Based on a PRS McCarty, the DGT tweaks the formula a bit via an excellent custom neck carve (much more like a 59 Gibson LP than any PRS we've played), custom-wound pickups that are based on David's vintage ES-335, taller frets, and a revised control layout. We love having a volume for each pickup in addition to a master tone (which doubles as a coil-tap for the humbuckers). Tons of tones are on tap here - anything from Fender-like clean tones to old-school Gibson grind are easy to achieve.
Condition: Near mint save for a few small finish chips on the headstock by the low E string (see pics) and a smudge or two on the back. No breaks or dents and all electronics work cleanly with no scratchiness. Frets are in near-mint shape with just the tinniest bit of wear starting to occur on the first couple of frets (very, very minor).
Mixed with a perfect setup, this super resonant DGT is truly a sideman's dream. You can easily cover anything the gig throws at you without breaking a sweat. Priced with original hardshell case.
