MotorAve LeMans (2011)

We've been aware of MotorAve Guitars for a long time now and are thrilled to have our first one in the shop on consignment - this incredibly interesting, and let's face it, incredibly cool 2011 LeMans!

Ramones fans, The Who fans, Queens of the Stoneage fans, Univox fans, funky 60s eclectic'll get this guitar immediately. Mark Fuqua, who spent time working at Trussart Guitars, is no stranger to making top-notch guitars in his North Carolina-based shop. Most notably, Queens of the Stonage frontman, Josh Homme, can be seen regularly slinging his BelAire model (very cool guitars as well).

This excellent condition LeMans is coming from a stripped down, SG Junior-esq mindset - less is more, and in this case, it absolutely is. It strikes us as an SG-meets-Mosrite with regards to appearances, and SG fans will certainly note the similarities.

In hand, and into the nearest cranked EL84 amp we could find, the SG references are immediately obvious. The LeMans simply feels like a great SG, albeit with better balance. The tones out of this guitar are stunning - everything you want a mahogany bodied, short-scale, P90-equipped guitar to be. Punchy, midrange heavy, just want to bash out your favorite Ramones riffs, period.

To be sure, this is no one trick pony. You can accomplish a lot of things with a single P90 guitar, especially one with cleverly designed tone switches a la the LaMans. We even got some humbucker-like sounds out of it. Very cool!

Condition: Excellent, with only some finish imperfections by the nut, caused by a guitar hanger, keeping it from being rated higher. Setup is great, all electronics work as they should, frets are excellent with little signs of wear....

One look at our inventory will attest to the fact that we love all guitars, not just the basics (LP, Strat, Tele). We encourage you to check out this Motorave LeMans if your'e in any way, shape, or form, a fan of builders who push boundaries but always with an eye towards world-class build quality and the past classics. A modern day SG? We think so. What say you?

Priced with hard-shell case.
