Martin 000-28 (1938)

TME is proud to host this exceptional prewar Martin 000-28 for consignment. Serial number 69761 is a no-issues, crack-free guitar in 100% original condition. While there are a few small scratches and dings in the finish that let you know it's been played, the guitar hasn't seen much usage and has fooled a couple in-store onlookers into thinking it was some new addition to Martin's Authentic lineup. TJ Thompson performed a neck reset on the guitar in 2015, at which time he also replaced the bridge and one tuning machine with original 1938 Martin parts salvaged from another 000. The setup is perfect, with correct saddle height and action measuring 3/32" on the bass side and 2/32" on the treble side with .012-.053 gauge strings.

It's hard to conjure up much in the way of a description for this guitar if prewar Martins are your thing. Truly, it's left us almost speechless. Finding a Golden Era guitar in this kind of structural and cosmetic condition is almost impossible. And that's to say nothing of the extraordinary tone, which is all a Martin aficionado could hope for. Endless resonance, wide open and complex sound, with the kind of responsiveness and power that you only get from one sort of guitar. The flattop of a life time for collectors and players alike.

*This guitar currently resides in a modern Martin hard case, but upgrades are available by request. A letter of appraisal from TJ Thompson is included. Payment by bank transfer or check only.
