Gibson L-1 (1929)

Guitars just don't get much sweeter than this 1929 Gibson L-1. We obtained it from one of our favorite local customers, who's had it since the late 1970's. When he bought the guitar, it was represented as having come from an old lady who hardly ever took it out of the case -- and its condition would certainly lead you to believe that's true. There are a couple well-repaired top cracks, but other than that the guitar is untouched. All-original and perfectly set up (we've got .011-.052 Monels on it, and it sounds amazing). The voice is distinctly Gibson -- warm, dry and hollow, with a lightning-fast response. It's a textbook-great instrument for any fingerpicking style of guitar you'd like to play, and sounds great for old-time rhythm and country flatpicking as well. Priced with its original hard case -- which is also in incredible, near mint condition. If you can't tell, we really like this guitar.
