"I didn't want to make Telecasters or Stratocasters or Les Paul copies, I wanted to do my own thing. Because these are original shapes, I had the flexibility to do anything I wanted." -Saul Koll
Just in from the NAMM 2018 show is this incredible, soon to be featured in Vintage Guitar Magazine, TK Smith pickup equipped Super Glide Almighty!
Hard to know where to even start with this one. Clearly the looks are off the charts great and conjure up 40s-50s Paul Bigsby Americana. This SGA embodies what we love about Koll guitars - feel, beautiful aesthetics, and tons of soul and vibe. Sporting a myriad of attention grabbing features - a hand-carved Oregon Big-leaf Maple top, one of our favorite satin nitro finishes, a B-11 Bigsby, and...oh yeah, those pickups!
The biggest surprise is just how versatile the TK Smith C.A.R. pickups are. You can get into early rock n roll and western swing tones easily - but - we also put the guitar through a Jam Pedals demo board that we have in the shop. The Rattler distortion brought us immediately into Siamese Dream-era Smashing Pumpkins. We're talking full-on, Big Muff-like fuzz, compression, and sustain. Incredible and completely unexpected! Into a cleaner amp, the neck pickup would make most jazz players blush. Just gorgeous, round, fat tones that'll have you reaching for Wes licks in no time.
Such a cool guitar that you can cover some serious ground with, all while looking like a boss. Priced with a custom Koll Deluxe G&G case.
Interested? We may have another on the way.
