Koll Super Glide Almighty Spruce Top w/TK Smith Pickups

"I didn't want to make Telecasters or Stratocasters or Les Paul copies, I wanted to do my own thing. Because these are original shapes, I had the flexibility to do anything I wanted." -Saul Koll

Always a great day when a new Koll arrives at the shop! We're reminded, yet again, how great and unique each of these creations is!

The inspiration for this Super Glide Almighty came from an old Hofner archtop we'd stumbled across. We were knocked out by its look / vibe and shot Saul a picture of that guitar asking if we could try and capture that kind of vibe with one of his guitars. It's really amazing to see how he worked his magic into what you see here with this spruce topped Super Glide Almighty!

One part archtop (conceptually), one part semi-hollow body electric, Saul equipped this SGA with a pair of incredible sounding TK Smith Charlie Christian pickups w/custom tortoise rings, a snakehead headstock w/tortoise veneer, pearl "Euro" fretboard inlays, and capped it off with a Bigsby B-3 tremolo.

This guitar feels incredible in your hands. Like previous guitars we've gotten from Saul, there's a wonderful open-pore / satin finish that creates an immediate connection between instrument and player. The mix of extremely high build quality and attention to detail crossed with the feel of wood not hidden under a shiny clear coat is just incredible.

This SGA is a resonant, lively instrument that sounds great sans amp or plugged in. It's got a snappy, slinky feel that makes it effortless to play. The neck carve sits perfectly between being slightly chunky (depth-wise) and slim (width-wise) - a very comfortable carve to be sure. TK Smith's pickups...if you like vintage, 50s inspired tones that are full of clarity, punch, and warmth, look no further. He is the guy. These are amazing pickups folks.

Per usual, Saul has left us scrambling to figure out how to snag this unique beauty! Don't let this one pass you buy, a phenomenal guitar in every regard. Priced with a custom Koll Deluxe G&G case.
