Creston Offset Ice Blue Metallic

"The guitars are finished to look like real instruments made by a real person, not poured out of a mold on the other side of the globe. All custom guitars are designed in collaboration with the players who use them - professionals, beginners, and in-between." -Creston Lea

Made a few hours north of TME in Burlington, VT, Creston builds each guitar to the customer's specs. Those customers include the likes of Kris Delmhorst, Jaleel Bunton (TV on the Radio), Mark Erelli, Ian Mackay (Fugazi), Jay Farrar (Son Volt), Zack Hickman (Josh Ritter), Henry Kaiser, Michael Millard (Froggy Botton Guitars), and dozens of others.

Creston himself took on the role of the customer for this killer Ice Blue Metallic Offset...

"I have a catalog of guitars in my head that I want to see made. Some are less revolutionary than others, but they all tend to have slightly unconventional ingredients, even if the basic forms are familiar. Like lots of my guitars, they're meant to solve problems or fill holes - you wish you could play a guitar with the look and feel of a Jazzmaster but the sound of a Gibson, for example."

We love how Creston has taken inspiration from the classic Fender Jazzmaster and instead of making a clone, he brought his vision of what this guitar could be to the table. 10" radius, 1 11/16" nut width, Lollar Imperial humbuckers...not much about that reads like the spec sheet of a standard Jazzmaster!

Taken as a whole, these specs combine to create a guitar that is quite a bit easier to play than most Jazzmasters we've encountered, and the addition of humbuckers certainly caps off the differences nicely. You can coax beautiful clean and overdriven tones from this guitar with the Mastery adding the expected fun with its brilliantly designed bridge/tremolo combination (read: tuning stability).

Where Jazzmasters have a killer, unique overdriven tone, few would argue it's an altogether versatile tone. Jason Lollar's Imperial humbuckers allow you to take this Creston in directions most offsets simply won't allow you to go. Anybody have J Mascis or Nels Cline on speed dial?

Creston Lea has earned a stellar reputation amongst a wide range of players and for good reason - his guitars continue to knock us out and we'll offer this Ice Blue Offset up as further proof! Priced with original Creston/Levys gig bag.
