"Every day we try to make a better guitar, every day. You're trying to reach for more, trying to do better, not trying to do the same. A lot of companies are trying to do the same, and that's okay - that's their deal. We're trying to stretch that. Our goal is a little more." - Bill Collings

If you frequent our website, you know we're enormous fans of the Collings City Limits. Is it the modern era's finest LP-style guitar? It likely is. Do we err on the side of ordering Collings' aged lacquer finish and Throbak electronics to get the utmost in vintage-style vibe and tone? We do. So what makes this guitar NAMM worthy? A couple things. First off, dig that custom "Nicky 'Burst" finish ~ an attempt to recreate the color tones of a certain highly esteemed guitar made in 1959. The combination of this guitar's top wood and the 'burst applied to it have us thinking that this should be the guitar on the cover of Vintage Guitar's price guide (we're thinking a lot of people would be fooled). Secondly, the as-yet-unseen Throbak KZ-115 MXV humbuckers. These low output PAF clones, wound on an actual vintage pickup winder, deliver the smooth, fat, articulate tones known the world over from the best classic rock albums of all time. If you were going to hand someone the market's hottest vibe & tone in one guitar, this would likely be the one. Priced with Ameritage case.
