"Every day we try to make a better guitar, every day. You're trying to reach for more, trying to do better, not trying to do the same. A lot of companies are trying to do the same, and that's okay - that's their deal. We're trying to stretch that. Our goal is a little more." - Bill Collings
As most fans of Gibson guitars know, to find "the" one, you're going to have to play a bunch of them whether vintage or new. Great examples exist to be sure, but you could save yourself quite a bit of time and trouble and check out this killer, like-new, 2017 aged blonde I-35LC. Icing on the cake? It's equipped with Throbak SLE101+ pickups - arguable some of the best PAF style pickups you can get.
Like all Collings guitars, this I-35LC is incredibly resonant, lively, and responsive. The neck feels incredible - slightly chunky, but appropriate for this style of guitar (The perfect '59/early '60s style carve? Perhaps). Playability and setup are flawless.
It sounds great unplugged - dry, papery mids, tons of volume...Plugged in, the Throbak ER MXV pickups sound gorgeous - great midrange punch, glassy top end sparkle, and are medium output on the bridge pickup, low/medium output on the neck pickup. Compared to the SLE101+ pickups, the ER's have a bit more low midrange and are a touch more aggressive sounding to our ears (though still quite dynamic).
Condition: Like new with little, if any, signs of prior ownership.
We genuinely believe the Collings I-35LC is one of, if not the best, semi-hollow guitar you can buy. Priced with hardshell case.
