Martin D-18 (1939)

Out of Stock

Player's grade 1939 Martin D-18 just into the shop for consignment! Let's start with condition. The guitar was refinished by Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, who also replaced the bridge. There are several top cracks (behind the bridge and on either side of the fingerboard extension) which have been glued and cleated internally. Bridge plate appears original, but has also seen some past repairs. Sound? Exceptionally strong and clear for a guitar with the aforementioned issues. The punch, warmth and crispness of a pre-war D-18 are all here; and the rear-shifted X brace balances the tone nicely. Lovely soft V neck shape, with the coveted 1 3/4" width at the nut. Action sitting at 3/32" on the bass side and 2/32" on the treble side with medium gauge strings. Serial no. 72302. Priced with contemporary hard case.

On consignment -- no trades, please.
