Circa OM-28 Madagascar / Adirondack

It's always a treat to have one of John Slobod's guitars in the shop. They occupy a rarified air of pre-war Martin style instruments whose worksmanship is as contemporary and clean as anything you'll find in the world. This OM-28 features master-grade Madagascar Rosewood back and sides (a two-piece, nicely quartered set) alongside its master-grade Red Spruce top. The scale length is 25", with a perfectly shaped, low-ish modified V neck (it feels very much like an early 1930's Martin OM neck). Neck support is provided by a non-adjustable, graphite bar. EVO frets, which have been PLEK'd by TJ Thompson. Bone nut, saddle and bridge pins.

You can likely guess, but we'll hammer the point home: this is a unique and great-sounding guitar. Very lightweight, very resonant and very deep-sounding without being overly glassy or busy-sounding. It's got a directness that's enviable in a rosewood guitar and responds equally well to flatpicking and fingerpicking (if you're looking for a small-bodied flatpicker, this would cover your bases nicely). You can see a little clip of our friend, Richard Shindell, taking it for a test drive a few minutes after it was unpacked here until we get our video online.

Priced with Ameritage case.
