Product information

Big, throaty tone in this, the most dynamic of Rolfe Gerhardt's Phoenix mandolin models.

With high headroom, a big, round voice, and Phoenix's usual easy playability, this is a potent mandolin with an attractive, unique aesthetic. The Phoenix "Bluegrass" model specs varied over the years. This example, signed June 4, 2003, features a streamlined aesthetic with a simple, squared-off and scooped fingerboard extension, and bears a handwritten "SNAKEHEAD" designation on the interior label.

Highly flamed, one-piece maple neck and beautiful tiger maple back and sides. There is some wear from an armrest, and otherwise just normal play wear. All in all, a standout instrument from this beloved New England luthier.
