There's something about the vibe of a well-worn Telecaster. Timeless, elegant, no frills, with plenty of stories to tell - it simply begs to be played. Case in point? Killer 2017 Fender Custom Shop 1952 Heavy Relic Telecaster just in on consignment!
This relic'd Custom Shop Tele is lightweight and has a really resonant, snappy voice when played acoustically. We're loving the current setup which really favors classic chicken-pickin' licks and bends. The action is what we'd call "medium" and could certainly be lowered a touch if you have a lighter touch, but it's very comfortable and slinky as-is. Playability is effortless thanks in no small part to the larger frets (vs the smaller, narrower vintage spec fret wire found on the originals).
The neck feels wonderful. More of a mid-50s feel (though not quite as V-shaped and nowhere near as big as big as a Nocaster) and the worn-in / bare wood feel is super comfortable. Hate sticky nitro necks? You'll love this one.
Plugged in, this Tele exudes classic twang, krang, and bite, but never gets into overly harsh or brash tones. It sounds like a great old Tele which, given the lengths that Fender went to to create this relic'd guitar, makes perfect sense.
Condition: Hard to call a relic'd guitar mint, but this is truly a mint / like-new guitar.
A killer Tele by any measure - and really, what's not to love? Priced with hardshell case, case candy, and Cert of Auth.
On consignment, no trades please.
