"Every day we try to make a better guitar, every day. You're trying to reach for more, trying to do better, not trying to do the same. A lot of companies are trying to do the same, and that's okay - that's their deal. We're trying to stretch that. Our goal is a little more." - Bill Collings
This beautiful 2008 Amber City Limits Deluxe just in on trade!
Sporting an incredibly figured maple top and tortoise bindings w/purfling on the body and fretboard/headstock, this Deluxe model definitely lives up to its name. There's an elegant vibe to this City Limits that sets it apart from the more traditional leaning City Limits we typically see.
While certainly not abused, this guitar does show signs of use - namely, a few dings/indentations on the back of the guitar and on the side by the input jack, and one finish imperfection on the back of the 59-meets-60s LP neck around the 5th fret. You can't feel this while playing, but it is easy to see. The frets are very close to new and the setup is perfect with nice low action.
The Lollar Imperial humbuckers deliver ever-so-slightly modern PAF tones that sound incredible either played clean or with some overdrive. What pushes these pickups into a slightly more modern place, to our ear, is a bit more of a neutral midrange and articulate top end. They are very, very good sounding pickups to be sure and remind one why Jason Lollars pickups are used by so many companies of the caliber of Collings.
An excellent City Limits by any measure, and a somewhat unique one with regards to its tortoise bindings and purling. Ready to see how good a dual humbucker guitar can be - and - save a little bit of cash? Here's your guitar. Priced with hardshell case.
