Ellis A-5 Deluxe Cremona Sunburst

Tom Ellis' mandolins have become some of the most sought-after instruments on the market today. Ever since Ricky Skaggs started carrying them on tour in the 70's, they've been like hen's teeth. It didn't help that Tom stopped making them for a spell to devote more time to his inlay business. Thankfully in recent years he's devoted more time to his real love, mandolin making.

These A5's come out of his Austin, TX shop and are truly spectacular. They feature Adirondack Spruce tops, exquisitely figured maple back, sides, and neck, all finished in a lustrous Cremona Sunburst that hearkens back to Gibson's best bursts. The mandolins offer more of that woody 'chop' prized among bluegrass players, but maintain a sweetness and clarity unheard of in other mandolins in a similar price range. A great instrument and one that is sure to turn heads whereever you go.
