We recently took this gorgeous '67 ES-335 in on consignment and it's a stunner on all levels!
One of the standout (knockout?) features of this guitar is the neck - this might just be the best neck we've felt on a 335, period. It has the 1 9/16ths nut width this era is known for, but coupled with the perfect amount of depth/girth and taper, it is absolute perfection. Extremely comfortable in every position - skinny down low, nice and fat up high - it has us asking, why can't they all be like this?!
Another standout is the tone, resonance, and sustain - and that's played acoustically. That papery, dry mid-range that great old 335s possess, well, this guitar has it for days. Why does the acoustic voice matter you ask? It almost always points to great things to come when you plug it in. We were not disappointed.
The neck pickup is outstanding. Warm, prefect amount of output and compression, but always clear and articulate. The bridge pickup has killer midrange and top-end bite and balances perfectly with the neck pickup. It's an instant reminder of why so many players love 335s - they're incredibly versatile and when you find a great one, even more so.
Condition: Excellent and all-original. Expected finish checking and occasional indentation. Frets show some minor pitting but are still quite tall and fell great to play on.
If you're looking to get into a vintage ES335, this should be at the top of your list. It is set up perfectly, plays beautifully, and sounds exactly like a great 335 should - fat, warm, powerful, with a sweet top end...both clean and distorted. Priced with hardshell case.
