Fender Telecaster (1959)

No longer for sale

Just in on consignment, this killer 1959 Fender "top-loader" Telecaster! These were only produced for about a year in the late 50s making them a bit harder to find than the typical through-the-body Teles.

Condition: This is an awesome players Tele, period. The body was refined at some point with a touch of tasteful relic'ing added to maintain the old guitar vibe. The neck looks to have a touch of light overspray but still feels broken in. The pickups are non-original (they're Seymour Duncans), the nut has been replaced, and the wires look non-original though the pots are original. Everything else appears to be original.

Fans of Jim Campilongo will already be familiar with the merits of the late 50s top-loader Tele - a really slinky feel and a bit more twang and bite tonally. Check out Jim's "Blues for Roy" track to hear where this guitar is coming from - the tones are almost identical (yet we somehow can't seem to play quite like Jim). All the Tele twang and snarl you could ever want are here in spades.

As if this guitar needed any more help in the vibe department, it's being consigned by a member of a high-profile, Boston-based band (who have a song prominently featured in The Departed) and was used in the studio and saw a bit of stage time. Does it get much cooler?

A killer, players-grade piece of Fender history with a bit of Boston rock history attached - don't miss this one!

On consignment, no trades please.
