"I didn't want to make Telecasters or Stratocasters or Les Paul copies, I wanted to do my own thing. Because these are original shapes, I had the flexibility to do anything I wanted." -Saul Koll
Our latest Duo Glide was ordered to capture the vibe of a vintage Olympic White Jazzmaster. Per usual, Saul upped the ante quite a bit and delivered an incredibly beautiful, elegant, and modern take on that classic offset design.
In addition to our recently arrived Shoreline Gold Troubadour model, this is one of the first two Koll's to sport the much lauded (and rightly so) Mastery Bridge/Tremolo. Coupled with the classic Koll "Glide" body shape and a set of gorgeous sounding Curtis Novak Jazzmaster pickups, what you end up with is a guitar that wears its Jazzmaster influence with pride, yet is utterly unique and so much more comfortable than your average Jazzmaster. Think Jazzmaster-meets-Tele and you'll start getting an idea of what this beauty is up to feel-wise.
Plugged in, the Jazzmaster-meets-Tele description holds up beyond just the overall feel. Killer, twangy, and articulate bridge pickup tones couple beautifully with warm, round, Strat-on-steriods neck pickup tones. We had a blast running this Duo Glide through our Jam Pedals demo pedalboard and a Victoria 20112. Anything from clean/compressed & snappy chicken' pickin' licks to ultra saturated/delay drenched indie rock was easily doable. Super, super fun you say? Indeed. Such a cool experience to have Jazzmaster DNA in a much more versatile (and playable) guitar.
Kolls have a very distinct, hand-made quality which we find to be warm, welcoming, and supremely musical. These guitars just pull you right in and inspire you to play. Highly recommended to anyone considering an offset style guitar! Priced with a custom Koll Deluxe G&G case.
