“I love Juniors, Teles, some of the Supros and Hagstrums and definitely old Gretches! Those elements combined to create my overall inspiration. The main thing that I wanted to do was to figure out how to make an improved one from start to finish 100% by hand. I want to use my hands, eyes and ears to select and build every part of every instrument. That was the driving force in the idea behind doing this!” - Gabriel Currie
If we had to sum up Echopark guitars in a word? Vibe. Gabriel Currie's guitars evoke a "Now where have I seen that before?" feeling while also presenting you with something entirely new and fresh. Case in point? Our new La Carne Custom Koa.
This gorgeous La Carne Custom Koa feels like a mashup of a late 50s LP Junior and an Epiphone Crestwood - a very cool combo to be sure. Fat Jr-like neck carve (yet still very comfortable), Arcane dogear P90 in the bridge position - Gold Coil in the neck, mahogany body/neck, and a Pigtail wraptail bridge. Reads like the classic, this will yield a killer sounding guitar 'recipe' that it is.
Like all Echopark guitars, this guitar is extremely resonant and feels great in your hands. Plugged in it sounds phenomenal. Gorgeous P90 bite mixed with fat neck pickup tones. If you're the type that loves to live on the neck pickup, you'll be in heaven.
There is a made by hand quality to these guitars that we find very appealing. The build quality is very high to be sure, but part of the magic of these guitars is that you can tell a human put them together. That's precisely why they feel as great as they do! These guitars are about getting down to business and looking amazing in the process - not for obsessing over every little detail.
Again, the word of the day with Gabriel's guitars is vibe. They just make you want to plug in, crank your amp, and run through every rock riff you can think of. That's really the point at the end of the day, no?
Priced with hardshell case.
