Creston Custom Offset Sherwood Green

"The guitars are finished to look like real instruments made by a real person, not poured out of a mold on the other side of the globe. All custom guitars are designed in collaboration with the players who use them - professionals, beginners, and in-between." -Creston Lea

We're thrilled to have our 2nd Creston Lea made guitar in the shop! Made a few hours north of TME in Burlington, VT, Creston builds each guitar to the customer's specs. Those customers include the likes of Kris Delmhorst, Jaleel Bunton (TV on the Radio), Mark Erelli, Ian Mackay (Fugazi), Jay Farrar (Son Volt), Zack Hickman (Josh Ritter), Henry Kaiser, Michael Millard (Froggy Botton Guitars), and dozens of others. This particular guitar was one Creston had on-hand and was kind enough to send down to us.

This gorgeous Sherwood Green Offset model features an alder body, maple neck w/rosewood board, Lollar Imperial humbuckers w/Emerson electronics, a Mastery Bridge/Trem, 24" scale length, and a 1 11/16th nut width. The neck carve is one of the most distinctive features of this guitar. The V carve reminds us a bit of the V's you find on the Clapton signature Strats - somewhat late 60s Fender depth-wise crossed with a pretty pronounced V. Spend 5 minutes with it and it quickly reveals itself to be super comfortable for both lead and rhythm work.

Part of the comfort comes from the 24" scale length. This guitar feels like a Mustang-Jaguar-Jazzmaster hybrid in-hand. The Mastery bridge/trem is just a blast to use and adds a nice Fender twang (complete with behind-the-bridge / Nels Cline / Sonic Youth fun if you're into extended technique playing). The overall build quality is very high with a tight neck pocket, excellent fretwork, beautiful finish work, and a very cleanly cut nut.

Tonally, the Lollar Imperials cover anything from chimey cleans to fuzzed out madness and add a nice punch and versatility that Jags and Mustangs (even Jazzmasters for that matter) tend to lack.

Creston Lea has earned a stellar reputation amongst a wide range of players and for good reason - this is any incredibly fun, killer looking, sounding and playing guitar that inspired us to go in new directions with our playing. Priced with original Creston/Levys gig bag.
