"Every day we try to make a better guitar, every day. You're trying to reach for more, trying to do better, not trying to do the same. A lot of companies are trying to do the same, and that's okay - that's their deal. We're trying to stretch that. Our goal is a little more." - Bill Collings
Our first SoCo in Collings' stunning Acid Wash finish just landed - and it has Throbaks? We're sold, done.
We're big fans of the SoCo model as it's the perfect blend of an LP and a 335. Physically, they're roughly the size of a 335 but with the comfort of the LP shape (especially when you play it sitting down). Tonally, these guitars are similar to a great 335 with just a touch "more" - more low-midrange and bass, though they never get muddy or bloated.
The fit and finish are flawless and the addition of the exposed coil Throbak humbuckers gives this guitar a look/vibe that's equally at home through a cranked Marshall or a more formal, black tie affair.
If you're on the fence about whether you should go with a City Limits (LP) or an I-35 (335), this SoCo Deluxe could easily end that dilemma for you. Truly the best of both worlds! Priced with hard case by Ameritage.
Interested? We may have another on the way.
