"Every day we try to make a better guitar, every day. You're trying to reach for more, trying to do better, not trying to do the same. A lot of companies are trying to do the same, and that's okay - that's their deal. We're trying to stretch that. Our goal is a little more." - Bill Collings
Folks, if this Collings City Limits doesn't have you reaching for the Add To Cart button, nothing will! Easily one of the coolest electrics we've gotten from the good folks in Austin, TX - and yes, it sounds and plays every bit as good as it looks.
Taking a cue from Jeff Beck's iconic oxblood Les Paul, this City Limits features an aged Jet Black lacquer finish, exposed bobbin Throbaks, and a wraptail. In our humble opinion, few LP's are cooler looking than Beck's and Collings simply nailed the vibe.
The wraptail brings a slinkier feel to the already effortless playability of a Collings electric. Your right hand rests against the body/cups the bridge vs resting on the strings on a traditional bridge/tailpiece setup. Why is this cool? We find it to be really comfortable for starters, and, you end up feeling a touch more connected to the instrument which lends to more expressive right hand technique. That's a good thing, right?
As you can tell, we absolutely love this Beck-inspired City Limits. We don't anticipate this one lasting long! Priced with hardshell case.
Interested? We may have another on the way.
