The EDB-2 is Headway's most recent upgrade to their popular blending preamp. They've upgraded to class "A" inputs and IC components for the cleanest, most pristine signal possible. They've also added the ability assign the EQ to channel 1, channel 2, or both, making tone shaping even easier!
The Headway EDB-2 Direct Preamp Blender is an ingenious little preamp that combines the features of several different devices into one. It has very vesatile 5 band Graphic EQ, and a sweepable notch filter with bandwidth control that lets you easily eliminate feedback. It is a blender with 2 channels with plenty of versatility (including one XLR input for a microphone). It will provide phantom power for most condenser microphones, and it has an XLR output (with ground lift) along with a 1/4" output. Basically, that means it does almost everything that you could want, all in a box that is as small as a standard foot pedal.
Lately we've had many musicians looking to blend outboard mics (like the DPA 4099G) with standard pickups (such as a K&K Pure Mini or a Fishman Matrix Infinity). This is by far the easiest and smallest product available that acomplishes this goal. With the added bonus of a 1/4" output, you can then take this signal and run it through effects, processors, or whatever your heart desires. To replicate thier most recent record, the Punch Brothers have turned to this preamp/blender to allow them to do just that. Given thier high attention to quality tone, that's one endorsement that is hard to deny!
We recommend the EDB-2 for mandolin, violin, and guitar.
